6. 3D printing human tissue with capillaries
In June 2018, Prellis Biologics announced that they could print tissues with living human capillaries. Printed tissues can be used for transplantation. This advancement will make it possible to print vital organs and replace them for old, diseased or deformed parts. This will greatly reduce the number of deaths due to the lack of organs for transplantation.
Recently, Israeli scientists have successfully used a 3D bioprinter to create a heart complete with tissue and blood vessels similar to a human heart, not only opening up new prospects for patients who need a heart transplant but for patients in need of other organ transplants.
7. Transgenic
Over the past few years, researchers have made great achievements in the treatment and prevention of diseases by eliminating aging cells or those that have stopped dividing. The scientists used transgenic methods and conducted initial experiments on mice.
In 2018, two independent research groups used a transgenic approach to prevent neurodegeneration. Following those results, scientists from the Mayo Clinic conducted a study on how to remove aging brain cells in patients with Alzheimer’s disease, preventing brain degeneration.
Another lab used genetic engineering to destroy old cells in the brains of mice exposed to the herbicide, which is a major cause of Parkinson’s disease in humans and mice. The results of the study show that this gene therapy has positive signs in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease in mice.
8. Blood transfusion against memory loss

In one experiment, it was found that blood transfusion from young mice to old mice stimulated neurons and stem cells in the brains of old mice. This can completely reverse the effects of the aging process. This is also the start-up project called Ambrosia, which allows patients to pay $ 8,000 to buy plasma from young people.
Although the results of the trial were not clear and there were many objections to the Ambrosia project, a clinical study was still underway. The results obtained from this study were surprising. Biomarkers of older people with Alzheimer’s disease and cardiovascular problems showed significant improvement. Unfortunately, in some patients, however, this effect does not last long.
9. Mental health
Psychological disorders (or mental disorders), including substance abuse, can accelerate the aging process. A study published in August 2018 analyzed more than 60,000 brain scans of people aged 9 months to 105 years. A team of researchers, including scientists from Google and Johns Hopkins University, USA, found that the cause of premature aging is due to:
- Schizophrenia (on average, 4 years reduction in life expectancy)
- Marijuana abuse (2.5 years)
- Bipolar disorder (1.6 years)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (1.4 years)
- Alcohol abuse (0.6 years)
In addition, they also found that depression had nothing to do with accelerated aging.
10. Diet
Scientists have proven that reducing calorie consumption can actually slow down the aging process and reduce the risk of aging-related diseases. A study conducted in 2018 found that the timing and amount of food you eat has anti-aging effects and reduces the risk of diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and dementia. Scientists recommend that you follow an “intermittent fasting” diet.
11. Lifestyle
We hear every day about the benefits of eating right, exercising, and avoiding bad habits. In 2018, it was proven that these things can actually help extend your life by 10 years.
A 34-year study showed that if people quit smoking, keep their body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 24.9, exercise for 30 minutes a day, reduce alcohol intake. By consuming and following a healthy diet, men can extend their life expectancy by 12 years and women by 14 years.
Aging has become a concern for many people. Fortunately, scientists around the world have been working to find ways to “reverse aging” and increase life expectancy.
However, the most practical way to protect yourself against the “power of time” is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and follow a sensible diet. Do not wait for the intervention of science and technology, you can also “fight” and win with aging from now on. Hopefully, Hello Bacsi has provided you with the necessary information on how to slow down aging and increase human longevity thanks to science and technology.
