Many people believe that vitamin C taken during the day will make the skin more susceptible to sunburn. In fact, this is the exact opposite of reality. Vitamin C can be used during the day, even as an ingredient to help protect the skin perfectly with sunscreen.
As a powerful antioxidant, vitamin C is programmed to fight free radicals, or oxidative stress. Free radicals are invisible, harmful, unstable oxygen atoms that attack our skin by disrupting essential structures, such as collagen and the skin barrier lipids. This causes skin inflammation that, over time, leads to premature skin aging, uneven skin tone and sensitivity. Unfortunately, free radicals are a part of everyday life. They are created from stress, fried foods, smoking, alcohol, pollution, and largely by UV rays.

When you combine sunscreen with an antioxidant like Vitamin C, you enhance the effectiveness of your skin’s ability to protect against the sun. Vitamin C is not a “sunscreen” because it does not absorb light in the UVA and UVB spectrums. Instead, the antioxidant activity of vitamin C protects against UV damage caused by free radicals. Remember the more antioxidants in during the day, the better your skin is protected from damage environmental damage.
It sounds like vitamin C is an ingredient has no weaknesses but it’s actually not god at all pharmacy as we think. Vitamin C is not stable. That means it has to be packed carefully because when exposed to air, vitamin C oxidizes and can lose its effectiveness, even potentially causing harm. When oxidized, vitamin C turns dark. It also increases free radicals, making your skin worse.

Researchers have struggled to find effective ways to stabilize vitamin C. One of the most effective methods to date is to combine vitamin C with vitamin E. Vitamin E is an antioxidant. Oxidation, will limit the instability of vitamin C, prevent vitamin C from oxidizing too quickly, and help maintain the effectiveness of vitamin C.
Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A, belonging to the group of retinoids. This is an ingredient that has a strong effect on the skin, if used in the right amount, retinol will bring some benefits to the skin such as limiting the formation of wrinkles, reducing hyperpigmentation caused by aging. It also strengthens the skin barrier because vitamin A contains antioxidant properties. With such a miraculous effect, retinol has a “deadly” weakness that is this ingredient has a strong effect on the skin and can cause conditions such as dryness, peeling, irritation, redness … If not combined with the right ingredients, the improper use of retinol will make your skin condition worse. And the “right ingredient” that Beauty & Style 365 wants to suggest to you is peptides.

Peptides have outstanding effects on the skin that help overcome all the weaknesses of retinol by reducing inflammation, soothing the skin, reducing irritation and strengthening the skin barrier. Some peptides also act as antioxidants. This helps to prevent and restore the skin after it is damaged by external influences such as UV rays, sunlight, pollution, etc.
When using skin care products, you should prioritize using ingredients that have a strong impact on the skin first. So when combining retinol and peptide, you should apply retinol first. Let the retinol penetrate deep into the skin, then apply peptides to help soothe the skin and limit the reaction of skin irritation, dryness.
Surely any of us have heard of the divine moisturizing power of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a moisturizing ingredient that can hold up to 1000 times its molecular weight in water. So it appears in the ingredient lists of hundreds of serums and moisturizers. Ceramides are less common, but this is a very potential ingredient that you should own for a while upcoming time. Ceramides are lipids (fatty acids) that make up about 50% of our skin barrier. For an easy-to-understand explanation of how ceramides work, imagine ceramides as the glue that holds our skin cells together and protects them from dehydration.

Although the two have different mechanisms of action: one is absorbent, the other is moisturizing, they work in harmony to keep our skin plump and hydrated. It can be said that ceramides contribute to locking in moisture and retaining the amount of water that hyaluronic acid can absorb. As recommended by dermatologists, you should apply a layer of hyaluronic acid serum under a moisturizer containing ceramides to retain moisture and strengthen the skin barrier.
