Tattoo care after tattooing is said to be an important factor in deciding the quality of a worker’s product. If the healing period is not guaranteed, your tattoo may become discolored, out of focus, or infected. For beautiful tattoos and not affect long-term health, with Beauty & Style 365 refer to the following tattoo care steps.

New tattoo cleaning and care phase

1. Follow the instructions of the mechanic

Tattooists are the ones who know the art of tattooing best. However, each tattoo artist will have their own techniques and different secrets. Therefore, listening and strictly following the helpful instructions from your own tattooist is essential for tattoo care. Because you can trust that they are all reputable craftsmen and want their products to be the most perfect.

2. Do not remove the bandage from 2 to 4 hours after tattooing

To protect the wound after tattooing, the technician will clean the surrounding skin, apply an anti-bacterial ointment and cover the tattoo with a gauze bandage or a plastic screen. This is an important step to protect the open wound from dirt and bacteria. Most of the advice that comes from tattooists is that the ideal time to keep the bandage is 4-6 hours. Actual tape application time will vary, depending on the size and location of the tattoo, the amount of ink that has melted, and the type of tape you use. Therefore, it is necessary to consult more tattooist’s advice to know what is best for you.

3. Wash the wound and apply a special cream gently to the tattoo area after removing the bandage

After removing the bandage, it is recommended that you wash the wound under warm water with a mild soap that is fragrance-free and antibacterial. Use your finger to gently remove the tattoo to remove any traces of blood, plasma or ink and pat dry with a towel. Absolutely do not wash the tattoo directly under the tap if you do not want to affect the quality of the ink.

4. Apply ointment after the tattoo area is dry

When the tattoo is completely dry and the skin is no longer greasy, you can apply a layer of ointment. Some trusted products that you can refer to are Bepanthen or vitamins A, D. However, it should be noted that only a very thin amount of cream is enough to polish the tattoo and rub it evenly until the cream is absorbed into the skin. Repeat this step 3 to 5 consecutive days or until the tattoo begins to scab.

5. Continue washing as well as applying medicine to the wound to quickly dry

The appropriate time to wash and apply ointment to the skin is 3-5 times a day. Most tattoo artists will recommend using only antibacterial soap and warm water to wash until the tattoo is completely healed. In addition, do not apply too much cream because high humidity will also adversely affect the tattoo.

The healing phase of the wound and waiting for the tattoo to heal

1. Do not expose the tattoo to the sun

The sun can cause your skin to blister and the tattoo to fade easily. The best way to take care of your tattoos is to keep them out of the sun for at least 3 to 4 weeks.

2. Abstain from vigorous exercise

For tattoos near the chest, shoulder blades, arms or legs, avoid exercising, jogging or playing sports immediately after getting tattooed. Vigorous movements will stretch the fragile skin and lead to injuries such as bleeding and tearing of the skin. Therefore, you should avoid vigorous exercise for a few days after tattooing.

3. Avoid swimming or soaking in water

The swimming pool is a place that contains a lot of chlorine bleach that easily makes tattoo ink colors fade. In addition to the water in the pool, you also need to be careful not to soak in the bath until the tattoo has completely healed. For one reason, the water in these places can contain a lot of dirt, bacteria, etc., which can easily lead to wound infection.

4. Wear comfortable clothes

Perhaps this is something few people think about in the tattoo care phase. If you choose tight and tight clothes, the newly tattooed skin will be easily rubbed and difficult to heal. In addition, clothing can also shed new scabs that form.

5. Patiently waiting for the tattoo to heal

While waiting for your tattoo product to be completed, you need to wait patiently. After the scab on the skin dries, reschedule with your tattooist if re-inking and tattoo inspection is required.
